Lady Vikings loss in 1st Rd.

North Wilkes travel back to North Surry for a first round MVAC tournment game.
North Wilkes fell behind 2-0 in first inning with two pass balls with runners in scoring position. Second inning, the Greyhounds recorded it's second base hit to short left-field.
With runner on first next batter strikes-out with a drop ball, North Wilkes catchers throws to first to record it's first out of the inning. North Wilkes try to force a double play at third, but a thowing error by the Vikings advance the runner across the plate for a North Surry 3-0 lead.
Moving on to the fifth inning were North Surry got 2 runners on base with walks, North Surry third batter of the inning went down on strike-out to keep the runners on first and second.
Fourth batter pop-up to short-stop for the second out. Fifth batter for the Lady Greyhounds pop-up to the left-field with a easy out, but the left fielder for North Wilkes missed it and was charged for error to score 2 more runs for North Surry.
Final score North Surry-5 North Wilkes-0!!
North Wilkes #12 pitcher recorded 13 strike-outs out of 25!!
North Surry pitcher recored 10 strike-outs out of 26!!
Records- North Wilkes fall to 6-14 and North Surry goes to 14-8 and face Forbush in semi-finals at Forbush.
This Saturday, the varsity will take on NWHS staff in fast-pitch game that begins at 3pm. Come out to see if any teachers can hit a homerun!! |
